Les Amis de l’Abbaye de Saint-Maurin organisation
The discovery of important manuscripts from the 11th and 12th centuries, one relating the life of Saint Maurin, the other being a collection of processional songs for the monks of the abbey, allowed the creation of a show for the commemoration in 1997 of the 900 years of the abbey church. In 1993, in order to prepare fittingly for this celebration, the association “To develop the patrimony of the Abbey” was created.
At the same time, a museum retracing the crafts and customs of Saint-Maurin was created and the association is committed to the enhancement of this heritage of the Abbey by creating an itinerary connecting several remarkable sites: the path of Cluny Guyenne-Gascony.
Since then, it has evolved into an association called “les Amis de l’abbaye de Saint-Maurin” ( The Friends of the Abbey of Saint Maurin).
The association les Amis de l’abbaye de Saint-Maurin aims to enhance the heritage of the Abbey of Saint-Maurin, by all means: financial, educational and cultural, such as concerts, exhibitions, conferences , editions, hiking organizations …
The association is governed by the law of July 1, 1901 and, since 2010, recognized as an organization of general interest; members and donors can therefore deduct 66% of the sums paid from the amount of their tax.
The association is a member of the European Federation of Cluniac Sites.
