Restoration of the abbey church: the first two phases are completed!
Visible on the photo above, the upper part of the tower, seen from the west, with the new roof, the renovated soundproofing, the replaced arcatures and corner stones.
The restoration work on the abbey church of Saint Maurin started in 2020. They were delayed a few times due to the health crisis.
The first stage, concerning the consolidation and restoration of the upper part of the bell tower, is now complete.
The second stage of the work, which mainly concerns the masonry of the lower part of the bell tower, is also nearing completion. The roof of the south turret, above the spiral staircase, has been redone with two slopes and a real framework.
These first two sections will be completed with the final finishing work by mid-July 2021.

As a reminder, the studies for phases 3 and 4, respectively the renovation of the lower transept room with the St Benoît absidiole and the two choir bays, have been completed. The provisional schedule still foresees the start of phase 3 around September 2021, and the start of phase 4 during 2022.
We will find the remains of the abbey church perfectly renovated by 2023!
